Mel turns to the internet to find out why EastEnders isn't on this Friday!

EastEnders fans will once again miss their favourite soap this Friday due to the football.

Last Friday EastEnders viewers hoping to see the latest action from Albert Square instead found themselves watching the opening game of the Women’s World Cup.

And it’s the Women’s World Cup again causing the problems for soap fans as the Beeb clears EastEnders from the schedule to make way for England v Argentina.

But at least viewers aren’t missing out on the normal number of instalments of EastEnders, with four episodes going out as usual this week.

So, tonight’s episode, which sees Keanu and Louise reunited, goes out at 8pm, Tuesday’s is on at 7.30pm, while Thursday sees a double bill going out at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

Sport often plays havoc with the schedules during the summer and there’s likely to be more changes ahead as the Women’s World Cup is on for weeks.

Last month Casualty fans were gutted to discover that the hospital favourite was missing a week due to the Eurovision contest.

Friday evening’s BBC1 schedule now looks like this…. 7pm The One Show; 7.30pm Match of the Day Live - England v Argentina; 10.05pm BBC News at Ten; 10.30pm Local news and weather; and 10.40pm The Graham Norton Show.

EastEnders continues this evening at 8pm.
