EastEnders fans could barely contain their glee after Friday night’s episode – which saw Jean Slater hilariously shut down Ian Beale after he mistakenly thought she was trying to put the moves on him.
After Ian played the ‘It’s not you, it’s me’ card, Jean – played by Gillian Wright – firmly put him in his place, telling him her kindness was merely to get out of paying for Hayley's birthday cake.
She said: “What on earth makes you think I would be attracted to you?
“I thought we were friends. Are you so full of yourself that you think every time a woman is nice to you that she must have an ulterior motive. Because if that's the case I feel very sorry for you.
"As if I would be interested in you like that."
And viewers were delighted that Ian – played by Adam Woodyatt – looked mortified by Jean’s admission.
One said: “Jean!!! 😂😂 She shrunk Ian down to size!! 😂😂”
Another added: “Ian trying to reject Jean was the most hilarious thing I’ve seen all week”.
A third chimed in: “Jean destroyed Ian.”
While a fourth added: “Jean is the best! The way she talked to Ian😂 Priceless”.
