The secret is finally out…

Emmerdale star Fiona Wade has hinted at a ‘gripping’ aftermath for Maya Stepney and Jacob Gallagher, as their secret affair is finally exposed.

The actress – who plays Priya Sharma in the ITV soap – revealed that viewers will have to wait two weeks to discover Maya and Jacob’s fate, which will be played out in a series of flashbacks, following on from this week’s ‘Big Night Out’.

Starting in tonight’s episode, some of the villagers head to a club, which sets of a series of explosive events for each of them.

Speaking on today’s Lorraine, Fiona told stand-in host Christine Lampard: ‘I can’t say too much but what I can say is somebody on that big night out does catch Maya and Jacob kissing so that story is out there.

‘Viewers have seen this over months and months but the characters in the village all get to find out. Then you have the aftermath and drama of that.’

Speaking of the choice to leave viewers waiting weeks for the outcome, Fiona added: ‘I believe it’s the first time Emmerdale has ever done something like this. It will play out in a different way.

‘A few of our characters go on this big night out to a club. What happened has consequences for each character, which changes their lives forever.

‘The audience won't be able to see how it what happens for two weeks, when they get these flashbacks.’
