Ex-Home and Away (opens in new tab) star Pia Miller, who played policewoman Kat Chapman, has a supporting role in the new live-action film version of Dora The Explorer.

Dora And The Lost City Of Gold, which gets a UK cinema release from tomorrow (Friday 16th August), is based on the hit Nickelodeon animated series about a young girl with a love for adventure who sets off on exciting quests with her monkey pal, Boots.

In the film version, Dora (played by Isabela Moner) is now a teenager who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents Cole (Michael Pena) and Elena (Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria).

Dora And The Lost City Of Gold was filmed on the Gold Coast in Australia last year.

Since leaving Home and Away in 2017, when her character Kat was killed-off after a car crash, Pia has also starred alongside another former Summer Bay resident, Todd Lasance (who was troubled Aden Jefferies) in the Aussie TV drama series Bite Club - about a group of shark attack survivors who are targeted by a serial killer!

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters.

Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave?

Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy.

He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)

And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
