Former Take That bandmates Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow were both honoured at the GQ Men of the Year Awards on Tuesday night. Double Olympic gold medal winner Mo Farah presented Robbie with an Icon award at the event in the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, central London, while Gary was given the Outstanding Achievement award. Other awards saw Homeland star Damian Lewis named TV personality of the year, Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen named best comedian and Michael Fassbender named actor of the year. U2 frontman Bono presented the Inspiration award to Sir Salman Rushdie, and Sir Tom Jones picked up the Legend award at the ceremony. X Factor host Dermot O'Leary was named most stylish man at the event, hosted by Jimmy Carr and David Walliams, and given his award by new Bond girl Berenice Marlohe. US film producer Harvey Weinstein gave the Editor's Special Award to James Corden, while Thor star Chris Hemsworth was presented with the International Breakthrough award by fellow Australian Kylie Minogue. Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher was on hand to present Olympic hero Bradley Wiggins with the Lifetime Achievement award. The cyclist has also won the Tour de France and a gold medal at London 2012.

His CV includes spells as a news producer at the BBC and TVNZ, as well as web editor for Time Inc UK. He has produced TV news and entertainment features on personalities as diverse as Nick Cave, Tom Hardy, Clive James, Jodie Marsh and Kevin Bacon and he co-produced and directed The Ponds, which has screened in UK cinemas, BBC Four and is currently available on Netflix. 


An entertainment writer with a diverse taste in TV and film, he lists Seinfeld, The Sopranos, The Chase, The Thick of It and Detectorists among his favourite shows, but steers well clear of most sci-fi.
