With this week's Strictly falling on the spookiest night of the year, the celebrities, judges and even co-hosts Tess and Claudia got into the Halloween spirit with scary routines, terrifying costumes, lots of cobwebs and some frankly horrifying links between each performance!
After the 11 remaining couples performed, former Corrie star Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice topped the leaderboard with 35 points after their energetic Ghostbusters-inspired tango.
The other high-scorers included Jay McGuinness, who was virtually unrecognisable as the big bad wolf in an American smooth inspired by the tale of Little Red Riding Hood. Although the judges said it wasn't perfect, they said they liked it very much, particularly Jay's "incredible" footwork, and gave him 34 points. He level-pegged with Call The Midwife's Helen George who performed a samba with Aljaz Skorjanec – dressed as mummies – to the Scissor Sisters' Take Your Mamma Out.
Then there were the middling scorers. Anita Rani got dolled up as Maleficent (the Disney villainess played by Angelina Jolie in the 2014 film) to perform a waltz with her swoon-worthy partner Gleb Savchenko. Their impressive performance certainly put smiles on the judges' faces and they gave the couple 29 points. Meanwhile, Kellie Bright and Kevin Clifton transported us back to Hogwarts for a Harry Potter-inspired paso doble that got a mixed reaction from the judges, but a not-bad score of 28, which was matched by Peter Andre and Janette Manrara's tango. Jamelia and Tristan's jive to The Time Warp didn't do too badly either, but did fall behind slightly with 26 points from the judges.
Among the low-scoring performances of the night were Kirsty Gallacher and Brendan Cole's Charleston (performed to Lady Gaga's Bad Romance) who got 17 points from the unforgiving judges who were not impressed by the duo's mid-dance slip-up. But it was Carol Kirkwood's rumba with Pasha Kovalev that got the lowest score of the night with 13 points – Craig could only bring himself to give the BBC weather presenter a miserable 2 points!
Katie Derham may have got some advice from "the ghosts of Anton Du Beke's Strictly past" – namely Ann Widdecombe, Judy Murray and Nancy Dell'olio, but Craig said their Phantom Of The Opera pasa doble was stiff and added "it wasn't great". The other judges were a bit sniffy about it as well and gave them 21 points, with Craig giving the lowest score of 4.
After some nonsense about Jeremy Vine turning into a zombie, he performed a salsa to Michael Jackson's Thriller with Karen Clifton, but it didn't exactly thrill the judges. Len said "there's a lot to be said about the supernatural, and that wasn't super or very natural." Harsh. The other judges weren't very complimentary either, but they did give Jez and Kaz a not unrespectable 22 points.
With Carol and Kirsty lagging at the bottom of the leaderboard, will they meet in the dance-off? Or will the viewers disagree with the judges and vote to have someone else booted off?
