Heather Mills is the seventh star to leave The Jump

The celebrity skiers are dropping like flies in Channel 4’s reality show The Jump.

Following the news that former Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding has left the competition because of a ligament injury, Heather Mills has also pulled out, making her the seventh celebrity to quit the show.

The former wife of Paul McCartney crashed during a practice run over the weekend and injured her knee and thumb.

Earlier this month, Channel 4 launched a safety review after the first few celebrities suffered injuries. Broadcasting regulator Ofcom has also received a number of complaints about the show and is said to be considering a formal investigation.

British gymnast Beth Tweddle, 30, needed surgery on her neck following a fall in training. At first, it was feared that she would be left paralysed.

Fellow Olympic champions, swimmer Rebecca Adlington, 26, and runner Linford Christie, 55, were also forced to leave the competition after suffering injuries.

Former Holby City actress, Tina Hobley, 44, also walked after she dislocated her elbow and suffered two fractures to her arm, while Made In Chelsea’s Mark-Francis Vandelli, 26, pulled out after fracturing his ankle.

Also, former EastEnders actor Joe Swash chipped a bone in his shoulder, but decided to remain in the competition until he was eventually eliminated last weekend.

Despite the mass exodus of contestants, there are still some celebrities left to take part in the final next weekend. Competing to be crowned the winner are The Wanted's Tom Parker, socialite Tamara Beckwith, ex-EastEnders star Sid Owen, rugby player Ben Cohen and former Superman star Dean.
