Fletch and Hanssen set for dramatic festive period - this story has been UPDATED

Holby City will get an "explosive" Christmas episode, which will be shown on BBC1 at 8.00pm on Thursday 27th December.

It was originally thought that the episode would go out on Christmas Day, in its normal Tuesday slot, but it will in fact be shown on the Thursday, the BBC has revealed as it announced its Christmas schedule.

And it looks like being an unhappy Christmas for Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw) as an “explosive family secret is exposed”.

Meanwhile, Hanssen (Guy Henry) also isn’t feeling much seasonal joy, which isn’t surprising given recent events. Hanssen is beginning to wonder if he’s CEO material, however when he’s faced with saving a respected colleague’s life, might he change his mind?

At least Santa pays Holby a visit, but who is the mysterious chap walking the halls of Holby? Continuing the Christmas gloom, Xavier (Marcus Griffiths) doesn’t have many happy festive memories. However that could be about to change…

Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that before Christmas the Reverend Richard Coles will be a guest star.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant will officiate at a wedding on the show in December - but it’s not been revealed who the happy couple are!
