Holly to miss This Morning after throat op

Holly Willoughby will be absent from This Morning for part of this week as she recovers from her recent throat operation.

The presenter normally fronts the show alongside Philip Schofield from Monday to Thursday, but will miss tomorrow's and Tuesday's show following the surgery on Friday.

She is hoping to return to the sofa on Wednesday.

Holly underwent the procedure after suffering months of pain with nodules on her vocal cords.

She later joked on Twitter that the operation - using a laser procedure called Green Light KTP - was the same as one Adele had had in the US two years ago in a bid to save her singing voice.

"Phew! Nodules gone, operation a success. After Adele had hers done, she won a Grammy... Fingers crossed! xxx” Holly tweeted.

She also revealed over the weekend that she has quit as co-host of The Voice after two series in a bid to spend more time with her family.

“I’ve had two wonderful years on the show and I feel very privileged to have been a part of it," Holly said.

“Finding the right balance between my work and family life is my priority and this has contributed to my decision. I look forward to watching the next series from my sofa and I wish everyone luck."

She will be replaced by Big Brother presenter Emma Willis on the BBC One show when it returns in January.
