Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays sultry Mercedes McQueen in the soap, has revealed she's desperate to take part in hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing. Jen told The Sun: "I'm a good mover and I'd love to go on the next series." However, fans won't see her joining the ranks of Soapstar Superstar, as she admitted: "I can't sing to save my life." If she got the call, the brunette would follow in the footsteps of several other soap actors who have taken part in the dance competition. EastEnder Christopher Parker was runner-up to series one winner Natasha Kaplinsky, while the inaugural run also saw Brookside veteran Claire Sweeney sashaying around the floor. The soaps were represented in the second series by former Casualty star Sarah Manners (who played receptionist Bex), and ex-EastEnders actress Jill Halfpenny. She managed to go one better than former co-star Parker by winning the contest outright. Series three saw Holby City's Jaye Jacobs knocked out in the early rounds, but one-time EastEnders star Patsy Palmer survived until week eight of the competition. Last year, Louisa Lytton flew the flag for EastEnders and managed to stay in the running until the 10th week.
