Kirsty Gallacher is fifth celeb to leave Strictly

Kirsty Gallacher is the fifth contestant to be booted off this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

At the end of last night’s Halloween special, the sports anchor received a score of 17 from the judges, placing her above BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood on the leaderboard, who received a score  of 13 from the judges – the lowest of the night.

But when it came to revealing the viewer’s vote, Kirsty found herself in the dance-off with singer and Loose Women star Jamelia, who hadn’t scored too badly in the Saturday night show with 26 points.

After Kirsty performed her Charleston with partner Brendan Cole for the second time, and Jamelia performed her jive with Tristan MacManus, it was up to the judges to decide who stayed and who was to go.

Craig, Bruno and Darcy agreed that the couples had performed well but all chose to save Jamelia and professional partner Tristan McManus. And when Tess asked Len which way he would have gone if he was forced to make the casting vote, he said he would have agreed with the other judges.

“It’s been a wonderful, wonderful experience but Jamelia deserves it more than me. I did my best but it was my time to go. I’ve exceeded my own expectations by reaching week six.”
