BAFTA-winning Broadchurch actress Olivia Colman is to star in a new BBC1 mini-series based on John Le Carre's spy thriller, The Night Manager, alongside Hugh Laurie and Rev's Tom Hollander.
In the first TV adaptation of a Le Carre novel for more than 20 years, Olivia plays an intelligence operative called Burr, who recruits former British soldier turned hotel night manager Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston from The Avengers) to navigate the shadowy recesses of Whitehall and Washington, where an unholy alliance operates between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade.
To infiltrate the inner circle of lethal arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie), which includes girlfriend Jed (Elizabeth Debicki) and an associate named Corcoran (Hollander), Pine must himself become a criminal.
The Night Manager, a mini-series, is a co-production between the BBC and US network AMC and begins filming this spring to be broadcast next year.
