The Replacement star Morven Christie has scooped the leading role in a huge new ITV thriller, The Bay.

Morven, who starred opposite Vicky McClure in monster hit The Replacement last year, will play a cop who gets embroiled in a missing person case which has a direct connection to her.

She plays Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong, a fiercely hard-working Family Liaison Officer whose job is to support families when someone goes missing. However, with horror Lisa suddenly realises that she has a personal link to her latest case, one that compromise her.

The Replacement

The Replacement was one of the biggest shows of 2017

Morven said: “Lisa is such a refreshingly real character - brilliant and flawed, trying to make everything work, and often failing. I adore her.”

She added: “I hope we’re going to make something that feels raw and real, as well as being a hugely compelling story.”

The Bay, which is set in Morecambe, will feature a top cast including Robin Hood actor Jonas Armstrong and former EastEnders actress Lindsey Coulson.

Writer Daragh Carville said:  “I’m beyond proud that this brilliant cast is coming on board to tell the story of The Bay. I can’t wait to welcome them to Morecambe.”

The six-part drama is about to begin filming in Morecambe and Manchester. It’s not yet been revealed when ITV will screen The Bay.
