Protestors storm stage during Ryan Lochte's Dancing With the Stars' debut

Disgraced US Olympian Ryan Lochte says he was 'a little hurt' when protestors stormed a live recording of his debut in Dancing With the Stars

Wherever Ryan Lochte goes, drama is never far away.

The disgraced Olympic swimming champion was making his debut on Dancing With The Stars, the American version of Strictly Come Dancing, when protesters wearing anti-Lochte t-shirts stormed the stage.

Lochte is not the most popular man right now after his antics in Rio this summer.

The swimmer claimed he had been robbed at gunpoint at a petrol station during the Olympics but later admitted he 'over-exaggerated' the story after Brazilian police questioned his version of events.

Whether or not the protest was directly related to that is unclear, but Lochte – who said the incident left him feeling 'a little hurt' – certainly remains a controversial figure.

The incident occurred during a live broadcast and forced producers to cut rapidly to an ad break.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba was giving her verdict on the star’s dancing with partner Cheryl Burke when the protesters appeared.

She later wrote on Instagram: “We had a bit of a scary moment during tonight’s live taping of @dancingabc, but thanks to our security team and incredible staff at #DWTS, no-one got hurt. Only positive energy here tonight and always. Thank you. #dancingwiththestars #security #grateful #dwtspremiere #dwts23 #dwtspremiere #premiere”

Two men, aged 40 and 48, were arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass.
