The Chase star Paul Sinha has revealed he's been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at the age of 59.
Paul - who is one of several quiz players on Bradley Walsh's hit ITV show - took to Twitter to confirm the news.
"I have Parkinson's disease. I will fight this with every breath I have," he tweeted - before sharing a link to his personal blog giving further details about how his health began to deteriorate in 2017.
“On the evening of Thursday May 30th, an experienced consultant neurologist calmly informed me that I had Parkinson’s disease," he wrote.
"It was a devastating denouement to a medical odyssey that began in September 2017 with a sudden-onset, frozen right shoulder, and took in an unexpected diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, a lifestyle transformation that enabled me to lose two stone, and a shoulder operation in January this year.
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Paul is determined to fight for the sake of his loved ones - including long-term partner, Oliver.
The pair got engaged in January after the quiz ace popped the question - despite previously vowing not to get married out of respect for his religious parents.
"Marriage is not for me either. I am passionately in support of it but it’s not for me. I couldn’t put my Hindu parents through the rigmarole of gay marriage," he confessed in 2017.
He admitted delivering the news has been one of the hardest parts of his diagnosis so far.
“It has been a really, really tough two weeks. Cancelling my run at the Edinburgh Fringe, missing the World Quizzing Championships to have brain scans, performing club sets whilst emotionally bewildered, and of course working my way through my loved ones, delivering the bad news."
Fans of The Chase flocked to send their support to Paul - branding the star "brave" for speaking out about his battle with Parkinson's.
"Best wishes to you. Going public is a positive thing and brings you lots of support," one online user tweeted.
