The Voice: first out in the final is Jamie Johnson

They sang themselves almost hoarse and had the judges on their feet. Then the vote was frozen…

The first artist to exit the final of The Voice 2014 was 19-year-old Jamie Johnson from Gillingham in Kent.

“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I thought I’d be upset and start crying,” said Jamie after the result was announced.

Jamie sang I Ain’t Missing You by John Waite as his first song and sounded a little nervous at the start.

Then came his duet with his mentor Kylie Minogue: There Must Be An Angel, by Annie Lennox.

“He’s like my angel, that’s why I chose that song,” said Kylie.

Jamie didn’t sing enough like an angel to win, though.

“I’ve come from gigging in bars to here. Kylie has been amazing," said Jamie.

“Thanks to everyone for their support. It really does mean the world.”

And his coach Kylie Minogue wasn’t in tears, either.

“This was my first experience doing anything like this and I want to thank everyone for making it so extraordinary for me. And Jamie you have just done me so, so proud.”
