The Voice: Kylie Minogue chooses her final three singers for the live shows

Team Kylie had seven members at the start of the knockout round of The Voice on Saturday 15 March but by the end there was only three: Lee Glasson, Jamie Johnson and Rachael O’Connor.

They’re the three who will be singing in the live shows.

“Song choice was the key,” said Aussie pop queen Kylie Minogue. “They had to choose their own songs for this round.”

And Kylie’s final seven singers didn’t make it easy for her. She had a lump in her throat as she made her decision.

Lee was Kylie’s first choice for the live shows - and it was a choice that surprised her fellow judges, Will.i.am, Tom Jones and Ricky Wilson. They leaned towards Femi Santiago or Lee Ihenacho.

But Kylie couldn’t ignore Lee’s original take on George Michael’s classic Careless Whisper.

Her other two finalists didn’t surprise anyone.

'I love his song choice," Kylie said of Jamie, who belted out a brilliant performance of Sex on Fire, by Kings of Leon.

Rachael, 16, was more of a worry. "She gets super-duper nervous," said Kylie. But Rachael overcame her nerves to wow Kylie with her version of Paloma Faith's New York. Now the teenager just has to keep them in check in front of a live audience.
