Tony Jacklin confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing

Golfing legend Tony Jacklin has been confirmed as the second celebrity who will take to the ballroom in Strictly Come Dancing 2013.

The 69-year-old former winner of the US Open and four-time captain of the Ryder Cup winning squad was unveiled as the first male contestant of the series on Friday's One Show.

News of his participation follows that of Vanessa Feltz, who was the first contestant to be confirmed for the series on Thursday.

And while he may be a whiz on the golf course, he wasted no time in telling hosts Chris Evans and Alex Jones that he had 'never danced'.

"My golf swing has a little rhythm to it and I’m banking on that, but I’ve never done any sort of dancing," Tony explained.

"We’ve done our group thing today, there’s so much to remember. The moves are fine but it’s the order and, you know, whether to look at the pro-dancer or not, but that’s like looking at your GPS when you’re driving and you don’t notice the pubs and pillar boxes that go by."

The remaining 13 celebrities who will be taking part in this year's Strictly will be revealed on The One Show on Monday.

The launch show, which sees them paired with their professional partners, will be screened on Saturday September 7 at 6.50pm.

Others tipped to take part in the series include Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher, former Corrie star Natalie Gumede, 2009 X Factor winner Joe McElderry, Hairy Biker chef Dave Myers and model and WAG Abbey Clancy.

Meanwhile BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid became the latest star to be linked with the show, with reports suggesting on Friday morning that she had signed up.
