The long-running comedy series Two Pints Of Lager and a Packet Of Crisps is being axed, according to the papers. The Mirror reports that the BBC3 show - whose stars include Sheridan Smith, Will Mellor, Natalie Casey and Ralf Little - has been given the chop by the channel's new boss Zai Bennett, who is keen to showcase other new comedy. "BBC3 is all about giving new writers a chance," he said. "It's now time to give that chance to others." Two Pints - which has notched up 80 episodes in its decade on air - began life as a BBC2 show in 2001 but later moved to BBC3. Series creator Susan Nickson said jokingly, "I've had a fantastic time for the last 50 years but wholeheartedly believe it's right for all of us to move on. "The crew, fans, actors and writers have become like family over the life of the show – in that I see them once a year and ask them for money. "I’m thankful we brought such happiness to a lot of people and a lot of enjoyable rage to many others," she added. Bennett said that he planned to announce some new comedy shows for the channel in the near future.
