Porridge, the much-loved sitcom starring Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale, is to be celebrated in a new documentary.
UKTV has commissioned the three-part series to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the comedy, set in a prison with the late Barker and Beckinsale as inmates and Fulton MacKay as Principal Prison Officer Mr MacKay.
Porridge: The Inside Story will air on UKTV Gold, featuring classic sketches as well as rare and unseen archive material, Broadcast reported.
The series will trace the history of the iconic comedy from its 1973 pilot episode through to the Christmas specials and spin-off follow up, Going Straight. It will also feature interviews with writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais.
The BBC sitcom ran from 1974 to 1977 and also starred Christopher Biggins.
