It seems The Voice Kids coach and McFly star has some sound advice for any youngster looking for a career in the music industry...

Danny Jones has admitted that he would advise his younger self to have more fun being in the music business.

The McFly star, 32, returned to our screens on Saturday night as a coach on ITV talent show The Voice Kids – and the show's opening montage featured pint-sized versions of Danny and his fellow coaches Pixie Lott and will.i.am taking to those big red chairs.

When asked by whatsontv.co.uk what advice he'd give to 'young Danny' about being in the music business, Danny initially quipped: "I’d say: 'Bro, there's a law that, until you're 18, you can get out of anything. Even if you sign something and even with your parents consent, you can still get out of it.'"

But, in a more serious tone, Danny then added: "I'd just say to enjoy it more. You know when a moment, or a situation, or a gig is so big that you can't take it in? That used to just freak me out. I'd be so nervous and overthink things whereas now I'm like: 'It's just music, just let people enjoy it.

“I think it's only in the past four years that I’ve actually tried to really master this skill of enjoying it. That’s why I’m doing solo stuff now. I’m like: 'It's just music'. Who cares?’”

However Danny, whose debut solo single Is This Still Love? is out now, rejected claims that his current solo work means the end of McFly.

"I’m still in McFly and there’s still a chance of McBusted coming back but, right now, I’m solo," he confirmed. "It’s just music and I’m loving it. I’ve got things to say in terms of what I’ve written about to put closure on them and it's amazing. There are no rules about doing just one thing these days, it’s a lot more open for sure."

Danny also said he 'loved being part of the Wedding Band' as he recently reunited with his McFly bandmates to perform at the evening reception to mark The Voice Kids host Emma Willis and her husband – Buster singer Matt – renewing their wedding vows.

Danny said: "I wish I saw Emma and Matt more actually, so getting to work with Emma on The Voice is really good."

The Voice Kids will air all this week, with all the action from the blind auditions, battles and semi-final leading up to the grand final on Saturday July 21 on ITV.
