Watch trailer for Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (VIDEO)

Alan Partridge is 'chatting for his life' in a siege on his local radio station in the latest trailer released for his new film Alpha Papa.

Steve Coogan's comedy creation is coming to the big screen this summer and sees DJ Alan trying to negotiate with his colleague Pat Farrell, played by Colm Meaney, after he is sacked from North Norfolk Digital when it is taken over by a big media group who want to change it to Shape.

Pat takes the radio station hostage and refuses to speak to anyone but Alan, so the failed TV presenter is sent in to negotiate.

The trailer promises fans "Action", "Cops", "Ruddy danger" and "Textbook Alan".

Alan is seen hiding down a portable toilet while being threatened at gun point and, when asked to identify himself by armed police, says: "I'm Alan Partridge. I've not been off the TV for that long!"

Stars of hit comedy show I'm Alan Partridge Lynn (Felicity Montagu), Geordie BP garage worker Michael (Simon Greenall) and DJ Dave Clifton (Phil Cornwell) all make an appearance in the film.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa will be released on August 7, 2013
