Who have viewers voted to be in the final of The Voice?

It was the semi-final of The Voice tonight and there were a few shocks as the voting viewers decided who they wanted to go through to next week's final.

Last week, the coaches each had their say when they were allowed to send a member of their team straight through to the semi-finals but this evening it was entirely down to the British public to vote for their favourite singers.

The contestants each performed a song on their own and then performed with their coaches before lines opened and viewers were able to vote.

On Team Rita, the coach had two strong singers in Karis Thomas and Joe Woolford so she was visibly shocked and upset when neither performer made it through to the final.

But while Rita lost both her acts, Ricky Wilson retained both his team members – Scottish firefighter Steve McCrorie and Nigerian-born student Emmanuel Nwamadi. The latter had been suffering with a sore throat after suffering from the flu and seemed to struggle when he performed Stay With Me by The Faces with Stevie and Ricky.

Over on Team Will, the coach lost Sheena McHugh – despite some great vocals on Miracle by Toca – and Vikesh Champaneri. Will did, however, keep Lucy O'Byrne, making it the first time a classical singer has appeared in a final of the BBC1 singing competition.

After losing Lara Lee and Howard Rose in last week's quarter-final, Tom Jones only had one singer left – Sasha Simone. She was a favourite among the coaches and a hit with the viewers, too, as she's going through to the final.

So, it's commiserations to Karis, Joe, Sheena and Vikesh, and congratulations to Stevie, Emmanuel, Lucy and Sasha who have made it through to the end of the competition.

The winner will be decided in The Voice next Saturday.
