X Factor shake up as bosses scrap sing-off for this year's live shows

X Factor bosses have reportedly scrapped the the judge’s sing-off vote in one of the biggest shake ups the show has ever seen.

X Factor producers have reportedly scrapped the judge’s sing-off vote in one of the biggest shake ups the show has ever seen.

An X Factor source told The Sun: “The sing-off had been popular but Simon believed that it had become sour and focused too much on who was leaving rather than championing the talent who was in the lead."

The contestant with the fewest votes will automatically be sent packing following the public vote - with no chance to save their place in the competition.

This comes after it was also revealed that contestants would be required to sing on both Saturday and Sunday.

The changes also mean that a star guest performer will appear on every episode, with this weekend’s shows featuring Stormzy and Liam Payne.

Saturday’s first live episode will also see viewers find out the results of the Wild Card vote, with four acts who failed to make it through to the live shows, returning.

The X Factor continues on Saturday at 8.20pm on ITV
