Former EastEnders star Martin Kemp’s son Roman is named as X Factor’s new digital presenter

Roman Kemp, son of Spandau Ballet and EastEnders’ Martin and former Wham! singer Shirlie Holliman, has joined The X Factor team

Roman Kemp has revealed he has been inspired by his famous parents after it was announced he will be joining The X Factor this year as their new digital presenter.

Celebrating the news, the 23-year-old Capital FM DJ partied with the stars at a Massive Attack after-party in London Friday night, as he shared his anticipation for the new gig.

“If I could have half the career my dad has had I’d be elated. My dad and my mum are people I look up to. I’m trying to live up to them,” says Roman in The Mail.

“My parents are massive X Factor fans. I will 100 per cent be bringing them along to the studio. My mum keeps texting me saying: ‘I can’t believe your name is next to the logo’.”

Roman already has a foothold in the world of showbiz, though.

He signed a record deal at the age of 15 with Universal Music and then went on to model for such brands as ASOS and Topshop.

His then got got gigs hosting on Nickelodeon and Capital FM, which he still fronts.

This year’s X Factor has faced a complete overhaul, with Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne returning to join Simon Cowell on the judging panel, and Dermot O’Leary back as presenter of the main show.

Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson will co-present ITV2’s The Xtra Factor with Rylan Clark-Neal.

The X Factor is set to return to TV screens at the end of the summer.
