Big Brother: Seany shocks pals by coming out
Big Brother housemate Seany has apparently surprised a string of friends and family who didn't know he was gay, after coming out on live TV. Speaking to Star magazine, his mum Sharon O'Kane said she felt 'very proud' when he announced his sexuality. "Seany is a very confident person and I suspect he felt it would be easier to come out right away," she said. "I'm very proud as a mum about the way he handled it. It was a brave thing to do." The 25-year-old entered the show with Gerry who is also gay - although both confessed they had previously had relationships with women. Although many of his friends and family were in the dark, he told his mum two years ago. Sharon said: "He said he wanted to tell me something, and then said he was gay. It was very matter of fact. "I had no idea, but there was never a big deal made of it. I've never had a problem with it. I told him, 'Seany it's your life and it won't make me love you any less. You're still my son. You're no different'." Commenting on his growing relationship with Gerry, Sharon added: "What Seany gets up to in the Big Brother house is his business."
