Ant and Dec had the chance to take on a different role during the Britain's Got Talent auditions when Simon Cowell was off sick with flu.
The pair took over from the mogul as judges as the Manchester auditions continued - the first time they have ever tried their hand at joining the panel.
However a source told the Sunday Mirror that it was a challenge for the TV twosome.
"It's the first time they have tried judging in eight years and neither found it easy," a source told the paper.
"Ant had to rate a comedian who wasn't funny. Then Dec judged a grandad who pulled some bizarre Michael Jackson moves."
Simon Cowell returned to the panel on Wednesday following his illness - having missed a string of performers, including the daughter of Coronation Street star Kym Marsh.
Britain's Got Talent is due to return to screens in the Spring, with try outs currently taking place across the UK.
