BGT’s Kathleen Jenkins: 'I kept telling myself, 'Please stop shaking!'' (VIDEO)

Kathleen Jenkins has revealed the full extent of her nerves as she auditioned for the Britain's Got Talent judges on Saturday night.

The part-time cleaner, 25, from Newport, south Wales, told What's on TV: "I was walking out [onto the stage] and I was shaking all over - I can remember actually hearing in my own head: 'Please stop shaking, please stop shaking, come on, you need to stop shaking because they’re gonna look at you and go what’s wrong?’

“By the time I got halfway through the song I started to calm down a bit. But then afterwards I was shaking again because it was just amazing – it's so worrying because you don't know what any of the judges will say, especially Simon."

Kathleen needn’t have worried though, as the audience and all four judges – Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams – were blown away by her emotional rendition of The Rolling Stones' Wild Horses.

"Simon's always the hardest one [to impress] because if he likes you, he likes you, but if he doesn’t like you, then that’s it, so he was the one I was most nervous of meeting. I wanted to impress them all – but he's the one you need to try a bit harder with."

When asked why she'd decided to audition for Britain's Got Talent rather than Simon's other show, The X Factor, Kathleen said: "One of the reasons for me is that I'd love to sing for The Queen. It's such a privilege and it's not something that people get the opportunity to do every day.

"The other reason I entered [BGT] is that I'd like to have a career in singing… and I'd like to move out of my mum and dad's house!"

Britain's Got Talent continues on Saturdays at 8pm on ITV.
