Britain's Got Talent: Signature, Kate in final

There were some harsh decisions on the first semi-final of Britain's Got Talent, with comic dance duo Signature and girl and dog dance act Kate & Gin advancing to the final. It meant the talents of singer Dean Wilson and belly dancer Sophie Mei cruelly missed out. Winners of the public vote, Signature mixed a fantastic Michael Jackson dance impersonator with traditional Indian dance. Judge Simon Cowell said: "Absolutely brilliant - three yes's." The judges' pick was the girl-and-dog dance act Kate & Gin. Piers Morgan commented after their performance: "Gin is the most talented dog in the world. A bit like Amanda, it does everything you tell it to do." Other performers included... Dance group Boogie Wonderland. Judge Amanda Holden said: "It wasn't as good as you first audition... Slightly under-energised tonight, sorry." Vertigo sufferer and 'the complete keyboard player' Michael Machell descended in a spaceship to play a truly alien version of the Star Wars theme. The crowd chanted "Off!" Young musical theatre singer Dean Wilson performed A Place for Us. Amanda said: "A winning performance, you look and sound like a West End star." Belly dancer Sophie Mei 'gave it her best shot', she said. Simon said: "Star quality, massive improvement from when we first saw you and you look incredible tonight." Transvestite performer Tracy Lee Collins came on looking like Michael Ball in Hairspray and sang Hey Big Spender. The audience was not impressed. Fire juggler Phil Blackmore was, quite frankly, wet. And he got three Xs from the judges. Thanks for coming.
