Neil Morrissey unapologetic over Amanda Holden affair

Neil Morrissey has broken his silence over his affair with Amanda Holden - saying he has nothing to apologise to her ex-husband Les Dennis for.

Speaking on Piers Morgan's Life Stories the former Men Behaving Badly star - who had the five-week affair with Amanda in 2000 while she and Les were still married - said the couple were having marriage troubles even before he came along.

"I don't know what there is to apologise for," the 51-year-old said. "It was very difficult for him and for that I am sorry.

"Amanda was having problems with her relationship anyway, as far as I was concerned. The ring was on the finger but the marriage was not really there. That was my understanding at the time."

He went on to say: "We had a lovely time when we had that brief fling," but did confess: "It could have been more delicately handled. I should have known better."

And the actor also admitted feeling 'awkward' on occasions when he has crossed paths with Les Dennis in the years since his affair with Amanda.

However he added: "Both of us are grown-ups. Les has got on with it and it has all worked out great."

Neil is now dating an American lawyer whom he maintains is 'not interested in celebrity', while Amanda - who is due to return to the Britain's Got Talent panel in 2014 - has two daughters with current husband Chris Hughes.
