Colson Smith: 'Corrie's fantastic, but it can go at any time. That's why I'm studying' (VIDEO)

Coronation Street's Colson Smith says working on the iconic soap is fantastic, but he has a back-up plan if his role as Craig Tinker ever goes.

Colson displayed a head that's much older than his 16 years when he chatted to What's on TV at the British Soap Awards. "]

"I started Corrie in 2011, so I was in Year 8 at school and my high school were really supportive and last year was my GCSE  year and I left school with eight GCSEs... Nine, even... I took one off me then!" he said.

"So I was really happy with that and this year I'm at college. So I'm a full-time student and I'm full-time at work. So my dressing room doubles up as my classroom and when I'm not at work I'm at college and when I'm at work I'm doing college part-time."

Colson continued: "But I really enjoy it. Corrie's a fantastic thing, but at any time it can go and I'm aware of that and I'm very appreciate of that so I want to make sure I've got something behind me so obviously that's why I'm studying."

Watch Colson talk about upcoming storylines revolving around Faye Windass's baby Miley, as well as the celebrity selfies he's after and the public reaction to Craig.
