Coronation Street actor Ben Thompson finds it 'a bit weird' that two of his friends are playing lesbians in the show. Ben, whose character Ryan has an on/off relationship with Sian Powers (Sacha Parkinson), had no interest in watching the much-hyped kiss between Sian and Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent). Asked if it's every man's dream to see two girls kiss, he said: "I don't know, is it? It's a bit weird - they're colleagues of mine. I'm like, 'I don't wanna see that!' "My mum came up the other night, she went, 'Oh it's been on telly', I went, 'right, good'." However, he is pleased to be part of a high-profile Coronation Street story. "It is good to get your teeth into something like that, it's really nice that they entrust you with something as big as that. Obviously it's never happened on the Street before, so for them to say you're going to be the first involved with it is a really nice thing."
