Coronation Street's Kate Ford: 'Labour noises were embarrassing!'

Coronation Street star Kate Ford has revealed her most embarrassing moment playing Tracy Barlow: doing birthing noises in post-production.

The 38-year-old actress, who has played the character on the ITV soap for over nine years, had to do labour scene "noises" which she described as "very embarrassing".

She told the Radio Times: "When Tracy gave birth, I ended up having to do the labour noises in post-production. That was very embarrassing.

"You make noises like that in isolation and it sounds like you're having sex. And I had to do the moans in front of an all-male crew. They just put a mic over you and say, 'Right, go! Do birthing sounds!'"

Last night, Corrie fans were left devastated as the soap said farewell to Deirdre Barlow, one of its longest-serving characters.

Actress Anne Kirkbride, who played Deirdre for 42 years, died in January aged 60.

Her character's death in the show was attributed to a suspected aneurysm as she sat in a deck chair in the garden.

Speaking about filming Deirdre's funeral scenes, Kate said: "It was hard. I'm glad it's done, I just want to move on from it now. Those scenes were really difficult, as you can imagine."
