Corrie's Rob Mallard has revealed he thought he'd have to look for another job after he learned his character Daniel attacked Ken Barlow. We caught up with Rob at The British Soap Awards.
Coronation Street actor Rob Mallard has admitted he thought he would have to look for another job after he learned his character Daniel attacked Ken Barlow.
Rob picked up the gong for Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards on Saturday, but in a red carpet chat with What's On TV he admitted he thought the storyline would be the end of his Corrie career.
He said: "I didn't know I was going to be Ken's attacker when I was cast, but a few months before it happened I was given a private meeting with Kate Oates and she explained how it was going to work."
When asked whether he worried it would be the end of Daniel, Rob said: "Yeah, I said 'Well I need to get my CV out, obviously, don't I.'
"But they've fixed it in such a way that it becomes a secret within the Barlows as opposed to why I should have to leave the show."

Rob's co-star and partner Daniel Brocklebank also spoke of his character Billy's future as he becomes one of the soap's first gay dads.
He said: "I think it's the first gay couple to have a child on Coronation Street. It's exciting. I have nephews and nieces and godchildren but no children of my own."
