Coronation Street actor Tom Hudson is leaving the soap in a storyline which sees his character set fire to Leanne Battersby's restaurant in an insurance scam. His character Paul Clayton, Jack Duckworth's grandson, torches the failing business after ex-hooker Leanne (Jane Danson) bribes him with sexual favours, according to reports in The Sun. The sensational storyline is due to hit our screens in April - and will climax in May when Paul is forced to flee the Street. Talking about his departure, Tom said: "I've loved it on Corrie but I've got other things planned." But he hasn't ruled out a return to the Street, saying: "Paul's just like his dad Terry and he'll definitely return to Weatherfield to cause more trouble for his grandad." He added: "It's a great storyline – exactly the kind of exit I hoped for." Viewers have seen Paul, who works in Leanne's restaurant Valandros, fall for maneater Leanne since he helped her set up the business last year. So when Leanne makes her indecent proposal Paul just can't resist. A show insider said: "Leanne is Paul's ideal woman. So when she offers him the chance to get into her knickers, he jumps at it." Paul leaves when the insurance scam backfires and police issue a warrant for his arrest. The insider added: "The police get involved and Paul is determined not to go to jail."
