Coronation Street’s secret murderer Rob Donovan only killed because he made a bad decision in the heat of the moment, according to Marc Baylis, who plays the bad boy.
Rob is currently keeping the huge secret that he killed Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) while his brother-in-law to be Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) is banged up, accused of the crime.
“Rob has been a victim of circumstance, says Marc. “That’s the way we’ve been trying to play the storyline, that there's more than one victim in this whole situation. It’s that flash of action that anyone could maybe be capable of.
“Hopefully, as we come to a crescendo towards the end of the year, more of that will come through as opposed to it just being a cold-blooded act.”
Marc adds that his family may recognise some of his character: “Maybe elements, you can only draw on what you know... Not that I’ve ever killed anyone. That’s a dodgy sentence to say! They do recognise some things, but on the whole I’m their little boy, so they’re proud.”
Coronation Street continues on ITV, Monday, October 6, 7.30pm.
