Viewers can enjoy a look back through Coronation Street's incredible archive in a breathtaking new trailer

A new Coronation Street campaign takes viewers on a nostalgic journey through the past 57 years of the soap opera.

Iconic scenes from the ITV serial drama have been recreated in a trailer which will also allow fans to see the work and craft behind the show.

Archive photography was combined with the recreation of classic Corrie sets and scenes for the clip, with the likes of the late Anne Kirkbride as Deirdre Barlow making an appearance.

In order to give a real-life feel to the reproduction of the scenes, actors were cast to match and emulate scenes, and costumes were designed based on a look back through the programme’s archives.

The trailer was partly filmed on the current Coronation Street set, while other sets were constructed at Shepperton Studios.

Starting from the early years of Britain’s longest-running soap opera, the trailer goes right up to the modern day and features current cast members Sue Nicholls, Lucy Fallon and Tina O’Brien at the very end.

The campaign, Coronation Street: Then, Now and Forever, will run on ITV until next year.

ITV Creative’s executive creative director Tony Pipes, who dreamt up the campaign, said: “Coronation Street has a unique place in British popular culture.

“Everyone has a favourite scene, a memorable moment and the chance to recreate some of these was a beautiful adventure.”
