Dancing on Ice: Kryan wins

Rugby player Kyran Bracken has won the 2007 Dancing on Ice series after a skate off against Clare Buckfield. Clare had been the surprise performer of the evening picking up four sixes for both of her performances to score a total of 59 points out of a possible 60 from the judges. The public obviously agreed with them as they voted Clare through to the final with favourite Kyran, eliminating singer Duncan James on the way. Kyran's performance of Bolero in the final dance of the series, however, was enough to seal the title for the England rugby star. In mid-January, 11 celebrity skaters first took to the ice, demonstrating a great range of abilities, athleticism and dedication to training. Who can forget DJ Neil 'Foxy' Fox stumble his way through the first show, only to be cruelly shown the door, or Kay Burley's nasty black eye, or Ulrika Jonsson's desperate desire to win (sadly for Ulrika, she stumbled badly twice in week three and was voted off)? But right from the start, England rugby star Kyran has shown the sort of skills on ice that he'd demonstrated dancing around opponents at Twickenham. As early as the second episode of Dancing on Ice, judge Robin Cousins was describing him as 'the best technical skater we have in this competition'. High praise from an Olympic champion. And so it proved - after last weekend's awesome body-popping displays and Michael Jackson moves, bookies made Kyran red-hot favourite to become champion. As far as they were concerned, Duncan and Clare were there to make up the numbers.
