Dancing On Ice: Matthew Wolfenden wins!

Matthew Wolfenden has been crowned Dancing On Ice 2012 champion, after beating Jorgie Porter in Sunday's closely-fought final. The Emmerdale actor - who had been the bookies' favourite to take the title - triumphed in a final which saw him and partner Nina Ulanova perform three routines, including their version of Torvill and Dean's famous Bolero. But it was a close show, which saw all of the finalists - including Chico who had earlier finished in third place - picking up 30 out of 30 for the judges for one of their performances. And Hollyoaks star Jorgie missed out on the title despite topping the judges' scoreboard ahead of her male rivals. Matthew admitted afterwards that he was shocked to have won. "I can't believe it, I'm absolutely shaking," he said. "The first time I stood on the ice I thought I'd made the biggest mistake of my life and my career. I thought I'd be a laughing stock." Earlier in the show Matthew scored the first 30 out of 30 of the series from the judges, who were wowed by his showcase routine to Singin' In The Rain. "I have been waiting for a few weeks to press that ten," Robin Cousins told him, while Katarina Witt added, "Matthew you were just absolutely perfect." And they were similarly enthusiastic about the Bolero which he performed in the closing stages of the show. "It was the most difficult Bolero we have seen from day one of Dancing On Ice," said Robin who added that it was a "privilege" to watch. Louie Spence added, "It was superb, you invited us into that performance." Jorgie Porter, who was runner-up with partner Matt Evers, was clearly emotional as she told the winners, "I'm so happy for them." She also fared well in the final, scoring her first 10 of the series for her showcase routine which saw her performing to the 80s classic Fame. "You burned up the floor, the ice was melting," said Louie, who gave her full marks for the performance. "It was absolutely superb." "The routine played to your strengths," Robin Cousins added, "You acted every move." The actress also scored full marks for her reprisal of her routine to Alicia Keys' Fallin' - originally performed on the Valentine's Day show - and won warm. praise for her Bolero in the second half of the show. "What was so special about this is you created it yourself and it was Jorgie and Matt doing what you do beautifully," said Robin. "You do these slow dramatical routines so well," Louie added. "You have outdone yourself." Sunday's final also featured the return of the other celebrity contestants who took part in the series, from first evictee Andy Akinwolere through to Jennifer Ellison, who was knocked out in last Sunday's semi-final.
