Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden won himself an automatic place in next weekend's Dancing On Ice final on Sunday after receiving the highest score of the night from the judges. The actor narrowly triumphed over Chico - with just 0.5 separating the pair on the scoreboard - after each of the four semi-finalists had performed a routine with their partner and also skated solo in the Ultimate Skills Challenge. And while Chico was top of the scoreboard following the first round, Matthew edged him out after the solo performances - going straight through to next weekend as a result. Chico will now face the public vote along with Jorgie Porter and Jennifer Ellison, with the two most popular also winning places in the final and the celebrity with the lowest votes eliminated from the competition. Earlier in the show Matthew scored an impressive 27.5 from the judges for his routine to Michael Jackson's The Way You Make Me Feel - despite a 'headbanger' move in the routine which went slightly awry when he appeared to drop skating partner Nina Ulanova. "This shows how difficult the lifts are," Louie Spence pointed out, "but you recovered well and it was still a great performance." Katarina Witt admitted, "I would have given you a ten but that mistake at the end brought it down to a 9.5...for me it was almost, almost perfect." Chico, meanwhile, wowed the judges with his performance to the Take That hit The Flood, with Robin Cousins calling the routine "a brilliant start to the semi-final." Katarina added, "I was completely amazed because you have no idea how good you are." And Jorgie Porter bounced back from last weekend's disappointing performance to score 27.5 from the judges after skating to Florence and the Machine's Shake It Out with partner Matt Evers - and a further 27 points for her efforts in the solo round. "Last week for me you weren't here but you are so back," Louie told her, while Robin added, "You could have gone for an easier approach but you stuck it out and made it happen." The fourth semi-finalist, Jennifer Ellison, finished bottom of the heap after scoring 24.0 for her routine to Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and 23.5 for her solo performance. The actress visibly stumbled during both her performance with partner Daniel Whiston and during the Ultimate Skills Challenge - and left the rink in tears after her first routine. However the judges attempted to reassure her, with Robin saying, "You are a brilliant performer and we love to watch you," and Louie adding, "This was a really good performance but the standard is high and you did have that stumble."
