Olympic rowing champion Steve Williams has been crowned winner of a special edition of Dancing On Ice made to celebrate the forthcoming games. The gold medallist, who triumphed with the British rowing team at the Games in 2004, joined a line-up of champion athletes who took to the ice for this one-off show. However he eventually triumphed over gymnastics legend Olga Korbut following a result which was decided by a mix of judges' scores and audience votes. And he said he was delighted to have won, particularly since he almost did not take part in the show. "I very almost didn't do this," he said, adding that he had "fallen down hundreds of times" during training. Williams, along with Korbut, both scored 10s from the judges on the show, with only half a point separating them at the top of the leaderboard. He dropped just one point out of a possible 30 from the panel for his routine to Kings Of Leon's Use Somebody with series regular Katie Stainsby. Sailing champion Pippa Wilson finished in third place, while athletes Colin Jackson and Jamie Baulch, javelin legend Tessa Sanderson and badminton silver medallist Gail Emms completed the skating line-up. The next series of Dancing On Ice will begin early next year.
