EastEnders has confirmed that young cast members Maisie Smith, 13, and Devon Higgs, nine, will be leaving the British soap.

The child actors, who play Tiffany and Morgan Butcher, will exit in the autumn alongside their on-screen mother Bianca, played by Patsy Palmer, reports RTE.

In April, Patsy announced her decision to leave EastEnders after six years back on screen as Bianca, a character she has played on and off since first joining the cast in 1993.

As previously announced, Bianca’s love interest Terry Spraggan - played by actor and comedian Terry Alderton - will also be leaving the show.

EastEnders producers are keeping tight-lipped about whether Terry and Bianca will be leaving the Square together or separately following their on-off relationship.

Nor have they commented on whether their exits will have anything to do with Tiffany being caught at school with hash brownies, a storyline set to kick-off this week.

An EastEnders spokesperson said: “We don’t comment on storylines as we don’t want to ruin it for the fans.

“However, we can confirm that the characters Bianca, Tiffany, Morgan, Terry, and his children, TJ and Rosie, will be leaving the show later this year.”

That leaves just Liam (James Forde) and Whitney (Shona McGarty) to help Carol (Lindsey Coulson) continue her fight against cancer.

EastEnders, BBC1, Monday, July 21, 8.00pm.
