Pulse rates soar when Dr Al Jenkins moves to the Square. New EastEnders' actor Adam Croasdell gives us the lowdown... Albert Square's getting a new medical man – tell us about Dr Al's entrance... "It's not very dramatic I'm afraid. He turns up in the Square driving a yellow Beetle with a surfboard on the roof." Why the surfboard? "He's been living in Ilfracombe in Devon and he's a keen surfer." So how come he's moving to Walford? "His mum, who suffers with arthritis, lives in the area. He grew up in Walford and Dot knew him when he was a boy." What's he like? "He's outdoorsy, a good doctor and generally nice – but not too nice. He's also domestically useless. He's not a butter-wouldn't-melt sort of a man. He can also be selfish and edgy." Is he single? "He's single and likes to mingle! I'm feeling the pressure... I don't think I can turn up and step into the shoes of somebody like Rob Kazinsky." Who does Al fancy? "He takes a shine to Tanya. She goes all silly when she sees him and he likes that. They play this cute game together." Who will he get friendly with? "He tries with some of the men but with little success. Minty and Garry see him as a threat. He'll have mainly female friends at first." Who's your first scene with? "Cheryl Fergison (Heather) who is virtually unstoppable. When she comes on set she's always making people laugh." Who are your favourite characters? "Dot and Peggy. June Brown and Barbara Windsor are heroines of mine." Has Dr Al got skeletons in his closet? "I do hope so!" Is this your first soap? "I've done lots of film and TV work – including Heartbeat and Holby. But this is my first soap. I'm really pleased to be part of EastEnders..."
