EastEnders' Mo George suspended
EastEnders' Mohammed George has been suspended from the soap for two months after getting a police caution for assaulting his girlfriend. The actor, who plays Gus Smith, apologised to viewers for bringing the BBC One show into disrepute. A statement from the BBC said: "Following Mohammed George's caution, EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer has taken the decision to suspend Mohammed George with immediate effect for a period of two months. "In addition, Mohammed George would like to apologise to the BBC and its viewers for his actions that have brought EastEnders into disrepute." The 24-year-old was cautioned by police on Monday for common assault. He was arrested after a late-night incident involving girlfriend Emma Archibald in Camden, north London, earlier this year. The Crown Prosecution Service said the actor had admitted the offence and apologised to his victim. The news comes a day after Coronation Street suspended actor Bruce Jones, who plays layabout Les Battersby, over claims he was drunk in a family restaurant. He has been asked to stay away from filming on the ITV1 show while the allegations are investigated. The 54-year-old reportedly launched into a foul-mouthed tirade at the Old Rectory restaurant, in Stockport, Greater Manchester, insulting fans and discussing top secret storylines - including the outcome of Tracy Barlow's trial.
