Ricky Norwood has mooted the potential return from the dead of his EastEnders character Fatboy because no one actually saw him dead

Ricky Norwood’s long-running EastEnders character was killed off at the end of 2015, but the actor has now hinted that he may be set for a comeback.

Arthur 'Fatboy' Chubb was crushed in the boot of a car on Christmas Day, but some fans of the London-based BBC soap opera have long thought that he was not actually dead.

Now the actor has said that Fatboy may indeed still be alive, and that a return to the Square is not necessarily out of the frame as he was actually not involved in the filming of the not-so festive scene.

He told The Express: “I don’t know, to my knowledge, I got told that (Fatboy) died in the boot.

“I wasn’t physically in the boot. I didn’t ever shoot any scenes in the boot, it was all the stunt team. I mean there’s always a possibility. The fans tell me that there’s a possibility.”

The scene saw Ronnie Mitchell lock Fatboy in the trunk of the car after mistaking him for Vincent Hubbard, before he was crushed.

Did he actually die, or did he have a secret escape route? Some fans seem to think so, and this is something that is on the actor’s mind.

He said: “Like, I was supposed to be the father of Denise’s baby, and I was like ‘wow that’s a long contention’. Wow no. I’m not Ronnie’s stalker, I’m not Denise’s baby daddy. I don’t know. Like I say, you never know with Easties!

“Do you know how many plot twists there have been in nearly every storyline that has happened since I have left that people are like ‘Yes, you’re coming back!’?”

The star, who was in the recent series of Celebrity Big Brother, said that he does not know if he will be returning as he has not 'had any phone calls'.

“I haven’t had a meeting,” he confirmed. “The last time I was down there was to say goodbye to my good friend Nitin Ganatra. Maybe that’s where it came from.”

He explained that he would love to return to the show as he has 'got so much love for EastEnders'.

Ricky was written out of the long-running soap opera at the end of last year after previously being suspended for reports he exposed himself and smoked cannabis on video.

At the time, he apologised after details emerged of the clip that was apparently recorded during a Skype conversation.

He had been on the show for six years in the role from 2010 and he also appeared in the online spin-off show E20.
