Emmerdale: meet Home Farm’s new family - who will shock Andy, Katie and Edna!

There’s a new family moving in to Home Farm - and straight away they will make life awkward for a few villagers…

First to get a huge shock is Nicola… The estate is put up for auction and Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) is  making her presence felt at the open day for potential buyers - and not in a nice way.

She’s rude to one viewer, Chrissie White (newcomer Louise Marwood) - until she meets her fiancé… It’s Robert Sugden (now played by Ryan Hawley) - Andy’s brother, the one who had an affair with Katie when she was married to Andy first time around. Shock!

And Chrissie’s father, who ends up buying Home Farm, is Lawrence - yes, the Lawrence that Edna got sent to prison for loving her husband. Double shock!

Can you picture Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) and Katie’s (Sammy Winward) faces when they see who’s going to be living in the big house?

And Edna (Shirley Stelfox)… She would prefer the past to stay where it is and now it’s going to be on her doorstep.

With Robert and Lawrence in the mix, we already know that the White family is not whiter than white. So, what dramas will they bring to Home Farm - one of the most notorious addresses in Emmerdale?

“Home Farm has always been the seat of power in Emmerdale,” says Series Producer Kate Oates. “In Lawrence, we have a family man, with serious status and a complex history. Robert's going to have to prove himself worthy - not just of the big House on the Hill, but of Lawrence's daughter, Chrissie. But will the ghosts of his past hold him back?”

It sounds like they will… “Lawrence is not impressed with Chrissie’s choice of husband,” adds Emmerdale. Could Lawrence be determined to rock his daughter’s relationship?

“It is fantastic to have been given the keys to Home Farm,” says John Bowe, who has joined the Emmerdale cast to play Lawrence. “I can’t wait to stir things up…”

Lawrence, Chrissie and Robert will arrive in Emmerdale later this month, with Chrissie’s 14-year-old son, Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson), joining them soon after.

Oh, and there's a gorgeous family dog, called Dog, that looks far too nice to cause anyone any problems…

Emmerdale continues on ITV, Monday, October 6, 7.00pm
