Emmerdale Matty Barton, Moira Barton

Matty's efforts to bulk up takes a potentially tragic turn...

In Emmerdale tonight fans will be left wondering if Matty Barton will die when he collapses following his horrific recent ordeal.

Matty, played by Ash Palmisciano, was left in a wretched state on New Year’s Eve after he was horrifically attacked by Isaac.

The transgender character couldn’t defend himself against his attacker and the secrets of his gender reassignment were publicly exposed.

Matty feels he must take things into his own hands and to make sure that if he’s attacked again, he can this time defend himself.

So having reached out to Ellis Grant (Asan N’Jie) for help to bulk up, Matty attends a group training session

But Matty pushes himself too hard and soon finds himself fighting for breath. Shockingly, he then collapses on the floor. Could this be the end for Matty?

His mum Moira (Natalie J Robb) is devastated when she learns the news and fears the worst.

It all comes ahead of a string of dramatic Emmerdale episodes next week which will see Vanessa Woodfield being stabbed.

Emmerdale, Vanessa Woodfield

A mystery hooded figure starts splashing petrol around outside The Woolpack... and stabs Vanessa!

Vanessa confronts an arsonist outside The Woolpack and is then stabbed by the mystery figure. Also, next week, Cain - who’s desperately trying to cover his own tracks over Joe Tate - decides to try and take Debbie’s mind off Joe by setting her up with a handsome client.

But what will happen when Debbie meets the man at The Woolpack? Can she move on from Joe?

Emmerdale continues tonight on ITV.
