Emmerdale's Dominic: Paddy's charged with assault!

Emmerdale's Dominic Brunt tells Soaplife about the almighty ding-dong Paddy has with Marlon when he and Rhona try to run off to New Zealand with Leo. They get arrested and Paddy finds himself in big trouble... Does Paddy really want to do a runner to NZ with Rhona and Leo? "He's having real cold feet about it. He even says, 'At the end of the day, we are abducting Marlon's son'. It's a very serious thing to do and he's on a knife edge. But he's telling himself that they're not moving to NZ, they're only going for two years." Then Pearl finds out they're planning to do a runner! "And Paddy says to Pearl, 'If you're any kind of friend to us, you won't say anything this one time'. So he is trusting her and he hopes she won't blab. But deep down I think he knows she will. And she does!" And Marlon catches them as they're leaving! What happens? "They have a huge row and they both lose it. Marlon's laying the law down, yelling, 'You will not go! I say you can’t!' They hate each other by now. As far as Paddy is concerned, it's no longer just about getting to NZ. He can't let Marlon win. But by then Marlon's phoned the police. " And by the time the police arrive they're fighting in the street! "They have a big rough-up. Marlon hits Paddy and, when he continues to provoke him, Paddy tries to hit him back - but he misses and hits a policeman and they both get arrested!" So Paddy tells Rhona to take Leo to NZ on her own! "Well, he thinks if Rhona and Leo sneak off while it's all kicking off nobody will notice. He's thinking he can later sneak out of the country and join them." Will she go without Paddy? "Yes. She's going on the proviso that Paddy will meet her out there so she has no qualms about going." What happens at the police station? "Marlon is released the next day without charge, but they charge Paddy with assaulting a police officer." Uh-oh... "Paddy doesn't take the consequences of hitting the policeman seriously until he receives a letter from the Vets' Council, telling him he might be suspended from practising. The mess he's in all becomes very real then..."
