Steve Carell, one of America's most likeable comedy actors, is perfectly cast in the title role of this raunchy but sweet-natured comedy.
He's a hapless shop assistant who inadvertently lets slip his inexperience with the ladies, leading his well-meaning friends Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen and Romany Malco to help him kick-start his love life. Trouble is, they're not much good at the art of seduction!
The resulting 'quest' - involving laddish courtship rituals, raunchy gags and cringe-making bedroom scenes - is a hoot.
Director and co-writer (with Carell), Judd Apatow ensures there is a steady stream of laugh-out-loud moments as well as a delightfully warm-hearted centre.
Catherine Keener plays a nice divorcee Carell falls for and, as his boss, Jane Lynch delivers some of the funniest lines.
