Jeremy Thorpe (Hugh Grant) goes to court as the BBC drama A Very English Scandal wraps up one of the strangest cases in the country's political history

With his political career in ruins, former Liberal Party leader Jeremy Thorpe (Hugh Grant) faces a possible prison sentence when he’s charged with conspiracy to murder his ex-lover Norman Scott (Ben Whishaw).

Supported by his wife Marion and mother Ursula, Thorpe appears at the Old Bailey with the three other accused men, and he’s defended by his sharp barrister George Carman QC.

Norman makes an unapologetic appearance on the stand before Judge Cantley addresses the jury with a very leading summing up.
